Hydra-Electric pioneered the "negative rate disk spring" design that is today's standard for most aerospace pressure switch, temperature switch and flow switch requirements. This unique application, in all Hydra-Electric switches, is well suited for the most difficult aerospace functions. The disc spring is at rest until the pressure actuation point is reached, when it snaps intoaction. It snaps back when the de-actuation pressure point is reached. The benefits are that, unlike other pressure sensing devices, the negative rate disc spring does not "trace" fluctuating pressures and set points stay set, even under harsh ambient conditions. Therefore contact chatter, premature fatigue and other common switch complaints are eliminiated.
